McLamb’s began around 1900 when Handy McLamb sold supplies out of a farm building on this very site. His son David built an old fashioned country store before 1940, and David’s son Pete began operating the business in the early 1950s.

Pete made McLamb’s one of the first companies in the area to deliver propane in 1963. In 1972 he built the current expanded hardware and propane business. Today, Pete’s son Wayne manages the operation — continuing a century-long tradition of serving home, farm, and business customers across central North Carolina.
